Difference Between CGPA and GPA
A major mistake made by higher institution students is confusing CGPA and GPA. They certainly do not mean the same thing. While CGPA means cumulative grade point average, GPA refers to grade point average.
CGPA is a term used to refer to a total grade point from semester to semester and at the end of the day, become what your degree will be at the end of your study years. In other to get CGPA, you must include all the courses and grades you have gotten from every semester which means- your GPA for each semester.
GPA is simply your grade point average for a particular semester alone.

Guidelines for improving CGPA
Getting an impressive CGPA is one that everyone hopes to achieve. However, you you fail to work towards it, it will only remain a dream. There is no perfect way for getting high grades, however, common guidelines and good habits have been put together from high achieving individuals to help you improve your CGPA.
1. Stay Dedicated To Your Studies
The first step to improving your CGPA is dedication. I do not think any high performing student has achieved such height without dedication. As much as some schools can be corrupt to allow students buy results, the truth is, you can never pay for an excellent result without being studious. Being dedicated to your studies implies that you must work hard, attempt all assignments, attend lectures and make a proper study plan.
2. Make Friends With High Achievers
It is very easy to feel overwhelmed especially working towards having 70+ in all your courses. If you are not careful, you can give up. This is where your friends come in. High achieving friends will motivate you to keep being focused on making the best grade for yourself. If you have a hard time making friends, you can start by looking for high achieving seniors in your department that can mentor you.
3. Balance School Life With Social Life
There is a popular saying that “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. As much as studying is important to make a good grade, you must learn to balance your school life with your social life. Striking a balance between both can help relieve school stress. However, going over the bar can make your academics suffer so you need to thread carefully.
